An immersive movement training programme.
A progressive residency exploring contemporary movement, floorwork, contact improvisation and artistic research through immersive learning and community living.

What is Lean_in Residency?
Lean_in Residency is a progressive movement education programme designed for dancers, movers and embodied practitioners who want to deepen their practice through sustained learning rather than short-term intensity.
Rather than offering isolated workshops, the residency unfolds as an immersive journey. Through somatics, contemporary movement, floorwork and contact improvisation, each stage builds upon the last, allowing new skills to be explored, integrated and embodied over time.
We believe meaningful learning doesn’t happen through information alone. It emerges through repetition, reflection, conversation and lived experience. The residency creates the time and space for movement to become something we embody rather than simply perform.
Alongside technical development, the residency nurtures creativity, artistic research and meaningful human connection. Participants are invited to cultivate a sustainable movement practice while becoming part of an international learning community rooted in curiosity, care and collaboration.
Whether you join a single residency or continue through multiple programmes, Lean_in Residency offers a space to train deeply, expand your practice and reconnect with the joy of movement.

We don’t simply teach movement—we cultivate the conditions for learning.
The Learning
Pathways
Lean_in Residency offers a progressive pathway through movement education. Join the residency that best matches your current experience, or follow the complete journey as your practice develops.
The Foundation Residency builds confidence through somatics, floorwork and contact improvisation, while the Advanced Residency deepens partnering, composition and creative research. Completing the Foundation Residency provides a natural progression into the Advanced programme.

A Growing Programme
A vision for the future.
Lean_in Residency continues to evolve through new locations, collaborations and educational pathways. Beginning in Goa, the programme is expanding towards annual UK residencies and future international editions, creating more opportunities for dancers and movers to train within an international learning community.
Alongside this growth, Lean_in is exploring the possibility of establishing a longer-term home for its programmes through a developing creative housing co-operative. The vision is to create a dedicated space for movement, creativity, community and shared living - a place where people can gather, learn, create and belong.
While these plans are still unfolding, they reflect the wider intention behind Lean_in: cultivating spaces where embodied learning and meaningful human connection can continue to grow.
